In January 2026, Mazen took to the stage at the Copenhagen Opera House, where more than 3,400 people experienced two sold-out performances in historic surroundings. Here, he showed how poetry can be reimagined as a modern live experience and bring together a large and diverse audience.
With Helt Tæt På, he goes the other way. From the big stage to the intimate room. Over dinner, Mazen invites guests fully into his universe. Here, poetry is not just something you listen to. It becomes part of the meeting between people.
Through the show, he shares some of his strongest and most beloved poems and stories from his live performances. With warmth, humour and honesty, he puts words to love, relationships, life and everything we carry inside. An evening where the distance between artist and audience almost disappears.
ABOUT MAZEN ISMAILMazen is a poet, award-winning performer and storyteller. He is known for his ability to make big emotions feel present and relatable, and for creating a special connection with his audience. He created Talte Tanker, where poetry, storytelling, performance and music merge into one cohesive experience. His texts are rooted in lived life and revolve around the thoughts and feelings many of us recognise, but do not always manage to put into words ourselves.
With Helt Tæt På, he returns to what may be poetry’s simplest starting point: the meeting between people. No big stage. No distance between artist and audience. No evening that turns out quite like the one before.
