A Nordic Swan Ecolabel conference and meeting centre

IDA Conference is certified with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel and meets the environmental requirements for Nordic Swan Ecolabelled conference centres. The certification documents that we work systematically to reduce our environmental impact and continuously improve our operations.

As part of this effort, we have, among other initiatives, replaced single-use plastic bottles with reusable glass bottles and water stations. We collect rainwater for toilet flushing and plant watering, and our electricity consumption is covered by renewable energy from offshore wind turbines.

The Nordic Swan Ecolabel is an integral part of our daily operations and development.

We have replaced single-use plastic bottles with reusable glass bottles, which can be refilled at our water stations near the meeting rooms. This reduces the use of single-use plastic in our daily operations.

Each year, we collect approximately 1,000 m³ of rainwater, which is used for toilet flushing and plant watering. In this way, we use resources more efficiently in everyday operations.

Fish nurseries

In collaboration with WWF and By & Havn, IDA has installed 25 fish nurseries by IDA’s quay wall. This optimises living conditions for younger and smaller fish, increasing fish stocks and biodiversity in Copenhagen Harbour.

Environmental requirements in our procurement

When we make purchases, we require our suppliers to provide documentation of environmental and quality standards. We prioritise products and materials that comply with recognised certifications and applicable environmental requirements.

Nordic Swan Ecolabel

A conference centre with documented environmental work

This means that we work systematically with documented environmental requirements and continuous improvements to our operations.

We use renewable energy, collect rainwater for toilet flushing and plant watering, and set environmental requirements for our suppliers. These initiatives are an integral part of our daily operations.

We can also provide CO₂ footprints for our menus, giving you a documented basis for your internal reporting.

Specific environmental initiatives

Ventilation and cooling of the meeting rooms are provided via district cooling from HOFOR and are regulated by CO₂ sensors in all rooms. According to supplier information, the solution results in annual savings of approximately 1,690 kg of CO₂ compared with conventional air conditioning.

Toilet flushing uses collected rainwater, reducing annual water consumption by approximately 1 million litres. This corresponds to around 20 percent of the total water consumption of the IDA Building.

Each year, approximately 2 tonnes of paper towels are collected in the IDA Building and recycled via Tork PaperCircle®. According to the supplier’s documentation, the scheme reduces material consumption and results in lower CO₂e emissions compared with incineration.

In collaboration with WWF and By & Havn, IDA has established 25 fish nurseries by the quay wall. The purpose is to improve living conditions for smaller fish and support biodiversity in Copenhagen Harbour.
