Environment & Sustainability
A Nordic Swan Ecolabeled Conference and Meeting Center
IDA Conference has been certified with the Swan label, which is a significant milestone for IDA Conference as a company that takes responsibility for our environment and society.
The Swan label is a natural extension of our commitment to protect the environment. For instance, in 2015, we removed plastic water bottles from our meeting rooms and replaced them with reusable glass bottles that can be refilled at our water stations. We also collect rainwater, which is reused for toilet flushing and plant watering, and our electricity consumption is fully covered by offshore wind turbines.
We are dedicated to creating a more sustainable conference center that works. With us, it’s natural to be aware of how we can best contribute to protecting the environment. We always strive for improvements, and we have implemented several measures to minimize our environmental impact. Our focus on sustainability is an integral part of our operations and makes us the ideal choice for environmentally conscious events.
Eco-labels & certifications
We work systematically with environmental management and have achieved several certifications, including the ISO 14001:2015 certification from Bureau Veritas. This international standard for environmental management systems confirms our commitment to maintaining high environmental standards and continuously improving our environmental performance.
In addition, our print center has achieved the Nordic eco-label, the Swan, which confirms our efforts to minimize the environmental impact of our printing business.

Glass Bottles and Reduced Water Consumption
We actively participate in preserving and reusing our resources. We have removed plastic water bottles and replaced them with reusable glass bottles that can be refilled from our centrally located water stations near our meeting rooms. This helps reduce waste and minimize our plastic consumption.
Additionally, we collect around 1,000 m3 of rainwater annually, which is reused for toilet flushing and watering plants. This helps us conserve water resources and reduce our water consumption.
Fish Nursery
Together with WWF and By & Havn, IDA has set up 25 fish nurseries at IDA’s bulwark. It optimizes living conditions for younger and smaller fish, which increases the fish population and biodiversity in the Port of Copenhagen.
Requirements for Sustainable Products
When making purchases, we set strict requirements for our suppliers to deliver as sustainable products as possible. We are aware that the choice of environmentally friendly products and materials is crucial to minimize our environmental footprint and promote a circular economy.

Additional sustainability initiatives
Eco-friendly cooling:
Ventilation and cooling of our meeting rooms are powered by district cooling from HOFOR and regulated via CO₂ sensors in every room. This saves approximately 1,690 kg of CO₂ annually compared to conventional air conditioning systems.
Rainwater toilet flushing:
Our toilets are flushed using collected rainwater, reducing water consumption by about 1 million liters per year – equivalent to around 20% of IDA’s total water usage.
Recycling paper towels:
Each year, we collect around 2 tons of paper hand towels at the IDA building and recycle them through the Tork PaperCircle® program. This reduces material use and lowers CO₂e emissions compared to incineration.
Urban marine biodiversity:
In collaboration with WWF and By & Havn, IDA has installed 25 fish nurseries along our bulwark. These improve conditions for young and smaller fish, helping to boost fish populations and enhance biodiversity in Copenhagen’s harbor.
